I See a Red Door, and I Want it Painted...
Edit: I think I've decided to stick with the red (at least for now), since I know I won't really be happy with teal or another color. I'm going to try balancing it out with some bright red and lots of sunny yellow flowers (and new pots out front).
Edit #2: We picked out another shade of red & had quite an adventure doing so! More to come on that soon!
Well, I painted the door red. And I'm not too crazy about it. I'm waiting a day or so to see if it grows on me. I didn't pick an orangey red, but against the terra-cotta-ish brick, it's looking orangey.
I've already picked out a backup color- a teal. I'm not nearly as fun or bold as I'd like (nor is it my style), but I think it blends a bit better. After more mock-ups, I definitely nixed the yellow & blue, and Jesse hates the greens. What are your thoughts??? Should I keep the red or paint it teal?

teal yes! I love teal and I think it would make a nicer contrast with your brick
i agree Teal! we need a lot of great colors in the world!
I love the red door. I think some red flowers would balance it out though!
I like the teal, too...but I think the red actually looks quite nice. I agree with Robin, some red accents would make it come together more for you, I think. Perhaps some containers going up the stairs with warm colored flowers?
great idea about the red accents & flowers guys! I actually already bought a little quart of teal paint, but won't use it unless I'm convinced. I'm still quite on the fence, but I'm glad to hear the red isn't atrocious! I have to still put some annuals in the window boxes soon- if I keep the red, some red flowers would be great to help pull it together (and on the steps)!!
I like the red, and I totally agree about some sort of red floral accent, either on the stairs or in the window boxes.
I think the red looks nice, but the teal would match the blue flower pots at the front a little better
I think the red looks really good with the brick but kinda clashes with the blue flower pots in the front
I think the red door nicely accents the Elantra's tail lights.
Seriously, though, I see what you mean about the somewhat orangy color next to the brick, although I can see how red flowers might improve the situation. I do like the teal.
I kind of like the teal! I think that might work well.
The red looks great!! Give it a little longer to see if you like it!
I love the red, maybe put some red flowers in your window boxes!
I think the red looks classic and lovely ♥
I like the teal, but the red stands out more. The red looks great, give it some time it will grow on you!
The red is OK, but pretty expected. Everyone with a brick home paints their door red, right?
I think the teal would be a great idea...and imagine how awesome tons of white and YELLOW flowers would look up against it! Yellow and blue...aaaah.
very fun! red is bold and classic.
you are little miss painter!
sallie
I like the teal better than the red, but I'm thinking that black might look really good too.
I like the teal. If you stay with the red, which I don't dislike.... what about painting the window boxes red as well? I know they match the shutters, but red would tie in nicely with the door. I also agree with the comment that black would be nice.....although I know you like bright colors.
I'm not sure about teal, but the red is nice! Maybe some yellow flowers would bring out the red and the warm tones in the brick? It might add the brightness you're wanting!
I think once you decide on the coordinating flowers, any door color you choose will be great, but I do really like the bright blue door in the sample you have in an earlier post. Like the red, the bright blue would have a little more "pop" than the teal.
I love the red! I see blue pottery planters with yellow and red flowers on the stairs!
I'd like to see it with some flowers - see if that ties it together. I think it's a good idea to live with the red for a bit.
I'd like to beg you to consider removing the faux shutters - especially since the ones on the 2 downtsairs windows aren't scaled properly (i.e. they wouldn't actually shutter the window because they aren't big enough). Sorry for the unsolicited suggestion, I just get hives when I see faux shutters, especially ones that are the wrong size!!
